WHAT COUNTS AS AN EMERGENCY?

Know When to Seek Immediate Care

Some dental problems can wait a few days; others demand same-day attention. Reach out right away if you are experiencing:

  • Severe or worsening tooth pain, especially with swelling or fever
  • A knocked-out, cracked, or badly chipped tooth
  • Uncontrolled bleeding, a lost crown or filling exposing sensitive tooth, or an abscess

When in doubt, contact us and describe what is happening. We would much rather help you determine a problem is minor than have you wait on one that is not.

What to Do Before Your Reach Us

The first minutes of a dental emergency matter, especially for a knocked-out tooth. The American Dental Association advises keeping a knocked-out tooth moist at all times, placing it back in the socket without touching the root if possible, or storing it between your cheek and gums or in milk while you head to the dentist.

For a cracked tooth or toothache, rinse with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Never place aspirin directly on a tooth or gums, and never try to dig out a stuck object with anything sharp. These simple steps protect the area until we can treat it properly.

COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT UNDER ONE ROOF

From Pain Relief to Full Repair

Because Dr. Hadfield’s training spans root canal therapy, extractions, crowns, and dental implants, most emergencies can be diagnosed and treated right here in our Eagle office. We start by getting you comfortable, then use digital X-rays to pinpoint the problem and walk you through your options clearly, even when the day has been anything but calm.

Whether you need an infected tooth rescued, a broken tooth rebuilt, or a lost tooth replaced, your care stays with one team that follows you from crisis to full recovery.

PREVENTING THE NEXT ONE

Most Emergencies Are Avoidable

The best dental emergency is the one that never happens. Custom mouthguards protect athletes of every age, and simple habits like skipping ice chewing and never using teeth as tools prevent countless cracked teeth. Most importantly, routine exams and cleanings catch weakened teeth, deep decay, and failing restorations before they turn into midnight phone calls.

After your emergency is resolved, we help you build a plan so your smile stays out of crisis mode for good.
